Sustainable Recycling Design Project with PERISTAL IGO 75

Students of HTW Berlin have realized a sustainable design project with our PERISTAL IGO 75. The task was "Another dimension | Creating a new dimension of existence". The group carried out the project very creatively and as sustainably as possible. The young designers used deadstock materials that could no longer be sold in stores, as well as second-hand clothing, which they recycled and upcycled into new fabrics.
A new fashion collection was created by recycling old second-hand jeans and fully fashioned knitwear garments.
Models Aliza and Rafael wear the collection «Safe Space». The young designers Tim Rühl, Nina Pironti and Marie Schablitzky made the shooting with instant cameras (more pictures on Instagram: @tiimmiit, @ninapironti, @mariesbz).

Design Project at HTW Berlin

Students from Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW Berlin) have contacted us because they wanted to carry out a sustainable design project with our PERISTAL IGO 75. As a forward-looking manufacturer of textile chemicals, it is important to us to promote sustainable, modern concepts. This is why we supported the young designers and their project with a free product delivery.

As a sustainability-oriented company, we are very interested in the development of environment-friendly methods and are happy to support the inquirers with our experience and technical know-how.

Title of the Project: “Another Dimension”

The project titled “Another Dimension” was a team work on the topic of sustainability. The task was:

Creating a new dimension of existence

In an idealized world our sense of alternative self can now be endlessly augmented in the digital world, leading to new perceptions of what our imagined self and environment can be. | What is your vision of a new dimension? this can be an alternative reality, a newly imagined domain going beyond our conventional understanding of order space, gender, race and logic. | Create your own new order and design a collection to fit in this new reality.

Sustainability Concept of the Design Project

Sustainability was of great importance in the conception of the design project. Tim Rühl, a design student at the HTW Berlin, and his team bought deadstock materials that were no longer needed. They also recycled carefully chosen second-hand clothing. The garments were further processed and upcycled into new fabrics. The second-hand denim jeans were bleached with PERISTAL IGO 75 on an industrial drum washing machine.

Collection «Safe Space - something we see, feel, experience»

We designed our collection «Safe Space – something we see, feel, experience» in the context of our sustainability design project at Berlin University of Applied Sciences. In order to achieve this objective, we looked for environmentally friendly and sustainable methods of textile processing. Among other things, we set ourselves the task of recycling second-hand denim in order to extend and broaden the product life cycle. When we were looking for an environmentally friendly indigo bleach for denim and jeans, we came across your product PERISTAL IGO 75. We have achieved very good results with it.

Jeans Bleaching with PERISTAL IGO 75

In the pilot plant of the university, the indigo-dyed denim jeans were bleached twice with a relatively high amount of PERISTAL IGO 75 in order to achieve particularly strong bleaching effects. The design students used 10 % PERISTAL IGO 75 and bleached the garments at 80 °C for 45 minutes.

Eco-Friendly, Sustainable Solutions

We are frequently contacted by students, developers, designers and creative professionals who are looking for eco-friendly, sustainable solutions. Some of the requests are unusual, ranging from the manual application of sizing agents for hand-woven fabrics and natural dyes for newly developed fiber types to finishing agents for biodegradable disposable masks or special coatings for innovative technical applications. Enzymatic alternatives to traditional, energy- and water-intensive processes are increasingly requested. Designers, developers, textile manufacturers and brands are also placing more and more importance on vegan, cruelty-free products and auxiliaries. We also receive inquiries about textile recycling and wastewater treatment.
