UN World Water Day on 22 March 2023 - “Accelerating Change”
UN World Water Day, which is held annually on 22 March, highlights current water themes. The motto of this year’s World Water Day is “Accelerating Change”. For this purpose UN-Water has launched the campaign “Be the change you want to see in the world” telling the story of a hummingbird that uses its resources to try to put out a large fire. The core message of the campaign is: It depends on every individual! This is the only way to achieve the goal of “clean water and sanitation for all” set out in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Water Consumption in Textile Industry
There is great potential for saving water in textile finishing. This can be achieved by optimizing recipes and processes, introducing single-bath processes and using multifunctional textile auxiliaries. Steam and energy requirements for heating are reduced as a result of minimized water consumption. Fresh water consumption in finishing processes can also be diminished following recipe changes or water flow optimization; among other things, purified process water can be recirculated.
Process Optimization and Water Conservation
Our experienced textile and application engineers are looking forward to giving you competent advice concerning process optimization and water conservation in textile finishing. Furthermore, Textilchemie Dr. Petry offers many sustainable, eco-friendly textile auxiliaries which can help to optimize your processes and to reduce the wastewater load in your textile finishing mill. These modern products which are certified according to various environmental standards can replace currently used, conventional auxiliaries.
Simply contact us via our contact form and we will provide you with comprehensive advice on water-saving methods in your textile mill.
Water Reduction in Production
We at Textilchemie Dr. Petry are also continuously looking for suitable measures to save water in our facilities: for example, we run a recooling plant to treat cooling water in the production cycle when manufacturing our products. Furthermore, we reuse cooling water from plate coolers as hot process water and by adding special chemicals to our steam boiler, we minimize the salting rate and also save water.
